For 25 years, Komen for the Cure has led our nation’s charge in the fight against breast cancer. Today Komen is an international organization with a network of over 75,000 volunteers working through local Affiliates such as the Komen Madison Affiliate.
Description:
Hundreds of Madison area volunteers are the backbone of the organization. They raise funds through events such as The Race for the Cure, they organize, they govern, and they ensure vital community breast health and breast cancer programs receive grants from our Affiliate to support education, screening and treatment for those in need.
History:
The Komen Madison Affiliate has grown from over 3,000 participants in the first Race to over 8,000 in our 10th Race in 2007! Over $1.4 million has been raised through this and other activities to fund local education, and treatment initiatives, as well as national breast cancer research.
