The goal of the Friends of Lake View Hill is to support the mission of the Dane County Parks Division for Lake View Hill to become an accessible yet passive, nature-oriented park that protects the area's natural resources while allowing visitors to explore the wonders of the unique environment of the area.
Description:
The purpose of this charitable organization shall be to render support to Lake View Hill Park through programs and activities that provide education, restoration, preservation and development of cultural and natural resources representing Dane County's heritage. This organization will strive to support activities that are outlined in the Lake View Hill Park master plan produced by the Dane County Parks Division. The park offers passive recreation, walking the trails that were formerly used by the TB patients and viewing the City of Madison, Lake Mendota and the UW from one of the highest elevations in the county - 990 ft (near water tower). Abundant wildlife and some rare species thrive in the woods. The park also offers active restoration and educational activities organized by the Friends of Lake View Hill. The front lawn is a popular place to fly kites, watch fireworks and go sledding.
