Faith in Action-Caring Hearts, Helping Hands provides neighborly support services to individuals who are elderly or have disabilities or chronic health conditions. These services are provided to care recipients at no charge. Faith in Action is "Neighbors Serving Neighbors in Need"!

Description:
Faith in Action is a community outreach program of Rainbow Hospice which seeks to help elderly and disabled individuals remain independent through providing "neighborly" type support. Volunteers participate by sharing their time and talents through any number of different activities. Volunteer services include providing transportation to and from shopping or medical appointments, assistance with household chores, helping with meal preparation, visiting individuals in their homes, or even installing grab bars or making minor home repairs for elderly. Our volunteers choose what type of service they want to provide, and when and how much they would like to volunteer. All coordination between Volunteers and Care Recipients is done through the Faith in Action office, to make the experience as smooth and convenient as possible for everyone involved. Through Faith in Action, Volunteers can make a huge difference in the life of a Neighbor in Need just by giving an hour or two of their time.

History:
Faith in Action-Caring Hearts Helping Hands began with a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and commitments from Rainbow Hospice, Fort Atkinson and Watertown Hospitals,Tomorrow's Hope,United Way, and many other community organizations. FIA received its start up monies in June of 2003, and now has more than 100 volunteers providing services in Jefferson County and surrounding communities in Dane, Dodge, and Walworth counties to more than 230 individuals.
