Chrysalis provides individualized vocational and work-related services to persons in our community who have mental illnesses. Chrysalis supports recovery by enabling consumers to have the opportunity for work activity that fulfills each individual's needs and aspirations, and promotes hope, healing, and empowerment.
Description:
Chrysalis has a Supported Employment program and a site-based Work Center program. Supported employment is a service that helps consumers find and maintain meaningful employment in the community. Jobs are competitive (pay at least minimum wage) and an individual’s skills, interests, and abilities are evaluated in order to successfully match them with an employer’s needs. Chrysalis’ Work Center provides low stress opportunities for people to gain work experience, enhance social interaction, and increase meaningful day structure. Work is supplied by area nonprofit organizations and is completed by Chrysalis volunteers as a community service, free of charge. The work involves various bulk mail tasks (e.g. folding, collating, labeling) and packet assembly.
History:
Chrysalis is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1980 and governed by a board of directors.
