Benedictine Women of Madison weaves prayer, hospitality, justice and care for the earth into a shared way of life. Its outreach seeks to empower the human spirit through retreats, programs and extensive environmental restoration activities at Holy Wisdom Monastery.

Description:
The Benedictine Sisters, staff and volunteers helped to restore over 95 acres of native prairie and wetlands. Each year, 10 to 20 acres of prairie are hand sown with over 60 different native Wisconsin prairie flowers and grasses. We invite you to continue the tradition of environmental restoration and maintenance on our prairie, woodland and wetland areas. History:
In 1953, we set down roots on a hill overlooking Lake Mendota and the skyline of Madison. Since 1996, Benedictine Women of Madison has worked to restore the grounds, covering 130 acres and including a 10,000 year-old glacial lake, wooded nature trails, restored prairie and beautiful gardens.

Holy Wisdom Monastery is located at 4200 County Highway M, Middleton, Wisconsin 53562 on the northwest side of Lake Mendota. It is 3.5 miles east of the junction of County Highway M and U.S. Highway 12, or 4 miles west on M from the junction of M and State Highway 113.
