The International Crane Foundation (ICF) works worldwide to conserve cranes and the wetland, grassland and other ecosystems on which they depend. ICF is dedicated to providing experience, knowledge, and inspiration to involve people in resolving threats to these ecosystems.

Description:
ICF, in addition to our on-site activities in Baraboo, Wisconsin, coordinates over 40 projects on five of the seven continents in order to protect endangered crane species from extinction. Our on-site activities include managing a captive flock of over 100 cranes, representing all 15 species. We also host over 24,000 visitors each year. ICF's work, whether local or internationally, focuses on five main program areas:
education, research, habitat protection and restoration, captive breeding and reintroduction.

History:
ICF was founded in 1973 by Dr. George Archibald and Dr. Ron Sauey, both of whom nurtured their interests in cranes while attending Cornell University in New York state. Both George and Ron dedicated their lives to saving the endangered crane species and the ecosystems on which they depend. To this day, 30 years later, we still function on those original values and have become the worldwide center for crane conservation. At ICF, our focus is not only on the birds and their habitats, but also people- because people can make a difference.

From Madison, take Interstate 90 north to Exit 92 at Lake Delton/Baraboo. Head south towards Baraboo. After one mile, turn left on to Shady Lane Road. Go one mile. ICF's driveway is on the left.
