WYOU exists to provide the public with access to the medium of television, to inform...to entertain...to enlighten...to inspire...and to give voice to the diversity, spirit and creativity in our community.
Description:
WYOU provides members of the public with access to video cameras, editing stations, studio space, classes and technical support to enable them to create their own television programming that is aired on Charter Communications cable channel 4. WYOU has twenty-two shows that are produced or cablecast from our studio each week and airs nearly 150 hours of locally produced programming each month. Whether you're interested in giving voice to your favorite cause, think it might be cool to be on TV or want to support locally produced programs and Madison's own fiercely independent public access television station, there's a place for you at WYOU.
History:
WYOU is a non-profit, public access television station that has been providing Madison with access to the medium of television since 1975. WYOU provides a broad range of diverse, commercial-free television programming along with public service announcements of general community interest for other non-profit and community organizations. Producers are responsible for the content of their programs and WYOU does not pre-screen or censor programs but may require that programs with sensitive content be aired between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am.
