Centro Hispano of Dane County exists to empower Latinos through quality social, cultural and educational programs.

Description:
Centro Hispano has three main operating departments: Social Services, Educational Programs and Community Events. Social Services consists primarily of general support services for our clients in the areas of housing, employment and translation. We also have a jail diversion program that assists low-level Latino offenders through assessment, individualized plans and referrals. Our educational programs serve middle and high school students after school in tutorial programs. At the middle school level we have two programs: Juventud and Juventud MAS (math and science). Both programs aim to help middle school students academically while Juventud MAS emphasizes achievement in math and science. Our program for high school students is called Aspira. Its main focus is on academic achievement while also providing students with valuable instruction in career development.Our Community Events department plans and implements our Annual Banquet, Fiesta Hispana and Reyes Magos.

History:
Centro Hispano was founded in 1983 to assist the Cuban refugee population in the area with housing employment and translation services. Since then, it has branched out to serve an ever-increasing Latino population, with most clients coming from Mexico originally. In the early 90's youth programs were started at Centro and have continued ever since.

Centro is located at 810 West Badger Road. Badger Road is one block North of the Beltline. Our building is right next to the South Transfer point for Madison Metro buses.   Nearest Bus Stop: South Transfer Point, 1 minute walk
