The mission of the Community Development Authority (CDA) of the City of Madison is to promote decent, safe, and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free from discrimination.
Description:
The CDA owns and operates Public Housing units in 40 locations throughout the City of Madison. One of these areas is the "Triangle" - named because it is bounded by the triangle formed by Regent Street, Park Street, and West Washington Avenue. Within walking distance from both the UW and the Square, the Triangle is home to a diverse community of individuals, many with disabilities, who are receiving federal housing subsidies. Staff from many area agencies work on the Triangle to improve the community and the lives of residents.
History:
The Community Development Authority (CDA) of the City of Madison was created on May 1, 1979 by combining the Housing Authority and the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Madison. The Triangle was built in the Greenbush neighborhood in the 70s, and has been home to subsidized housing since that time.
