The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
Description: The Nature Conservancy weaves together the places that are most threatened--forests, waters, prairies, deserts--to help us preserve a natural masterpiece. These goals are achieved through a multitude of people working together towards a common goal.
History: In 1960, a small group of scientists and conservationists joined to form a Nature Conservancy chapter in Wisconsin. Since that time, volunteers have a played a key role in accomplishing our mission. For nearly 20 years, The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin was entirely run by volunteers. Many of the individuals who saw us through our infancy continue to volunteer their time and leadership today.
