The mission of the Mental Health Center of Dane County, Inc. is to provide individuals and families with high quality, community based, recovery oriented, mental health, substance abuse, and advocacy services that respect cultural differences and foster hope, strength, and self determination. We will give priority to individuals and families with high needs and low resources.

Description:
Children, teens, adults, seniors, and families have received mental health and substance abuse treatment/assessment services for 55 years. With nine agency locations and outreach to community sites (homes, schools, workplaces, senior centers, etc), the MCHDC is one of Dane County's largest community nonprofit agencies.

Elderly, child/family, adult alcohol/drug, adult mental health

History:
The MHC is a private, nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Founded in 1948 as Dane County's first publicly supported Child Guidance Clinic, it has grown over the years to become a comprehensive community-based mental health & alcohol and other drug treatment center - nationally recognized for providing progressive community-based services to high-need persons across all age ranges. Although the majority of funding comes from contracts with the county, the Mental Health Center is also a recipient of numerous state, federal, and private foundation grants.
