The Center for Resilient Cities uses resilience design to weave green landscapes into the built environment, creating organic opportunities for social and economic development. We help cities adapt to social, economic, environmental, and climate change.
Description:
The Center for Resilient Cities works with residents and public servants to improve the natural environment, citizen health, and economic opportunities. We accomplish this through consultation, teaching, and education; coalition development; research partnerships; fundraising, and project management. As we work, communities deepen their resilience and previously unseen educational, public health, safety, and employment opportunities are revealed.
History:
Since its founding in 1996, Resilient Cities has helped protect and/or restore more than 300 downtown acres in the greater Milwaukee and Madison regions and successfully advocated for land use policy reform. Resilient Cities also spearheaded Wisconsin's only successful open space public financing referendum that set aside $30 million for park acquisition in Dane County.
