Madison East High School exists to serve students and the community in providing 9-12th grade education which prepares young people for citizenship, employment, and post-secondary education.

Description:
East High School is the academic and social home base for an exciting, diverse, and talented group of young people. Students pursue many personal interests and goals, but they are also responsible for meeting community educational standards in core subject areas. Staff are ultimately responsible for coordination of curriculum and instructional services, but volunteer participation from the community is solicited on a regular basis. Volunteers enable more students to receive individual attention which helps them grow. Volunteers are used primarily as tutors in academic subjects--working in study halls or selected classrooms--inquiries regarding classroom presentations or other services to students are invited.

History:
Madison East High School has been providing free public education to North, East, and Central Madison residents for over 80 years.

Volunteer tutors from among the student body and from the Madison community have worked regularly at the school throughout its history, but are especially needed now that district funding for support services is limited.
