Description:
The Technology Education Foundation (TEF) was established by Berbee to provide technology learning opportunities for students of all ages. The majority of the funding for the TEF comes directly from the Berbee Derby - Thanksgiving Day 10k RUN & 5k RUN/WALK. This annual run/walk attracts participants from throughout the Dane County area as well as visitors from around the United States. The annual run/walk is held near the Berbee headquarters located in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. The event is a healthy way to kick off the holiday season while supporting technology education. In addition to the generous support from our Berbee Derby sponsors, money is also raised from participant entry fees.
History:
In 2007 the TEF presented its award to several organizations throughout Dane County. Congratulations to Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, Capital Science and Engineering Fair, Cherokee Middle School, Dane County Parent Council, Edgewood High School, Independent Living, Schenk Elementary School, St. James School, and YMCA of Dane County. Each organization recipient was reviewed based on their ability to provide technology education for the greater good of our community. 2008 recipients are under review and will be decided on in August of 2008. The TEF will consider the following organizational types eligible for funding: Nonprofit (in the U.S., 501(c)(3) designation) or non-governmental organizations that hold charitable status in their country K-12 school programs (during school and non-school hours) Government funded and operated Nonprofit healthcare facilities (example: Hospice Care)
