YCC, Inc.'s mission is to develop, foster and promote yoga programs to enrich the health, and well-being of our community.

Description:
We thank you for your interest in Yoga Community Connection, Incorporated. We are interested in spreading the word about who we are. YCC, Inc. is an established nonprofit entity whose mission is to develop, foster, and promote yoga programs to enrich the health, and well-being of our community. We value the right of every individual to experience the healing art of Yoga.

Our programming creatively integrates yoga into a variety of settings such as schools, hospice, hospitals, mental health services, the juvenile justice system, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, and family members. We also provide a family enrichment program known as Family Connections. All of our programming has research and evaluation components.

Our leading program, Yoga Goes to School, implements school-wide yoga programming and train teachers in our curriculum and includes additional programming for families. Our trainings and curricula are directed towards pre-school, elementary, physical education and special education teachers and classrooms. In community settings, we have worked with teen programs and Hospice support groups for children in bereavement.

Yoga teaches perseverance and tolerance for growing, opening channels of learning to achieve academic success including skills for helping children to be good test takers. Yoga techniques develop self-awareness, an understanding allowing for the revalue (to make a new valuation) of feelings, self-care, stress management, building self-esteem/confidence and holistic skills for life.

History:
Yoga Community Connection, Inc. (YCC, Inc.) began with certified yoga instructors and educators seeing a need to improve elementary student academic performance and behavioral expectations.

As teachers of yoga instruction they knew that the reduction of stress and the ability to improve children's focus were only a few of the benefits of yoga. Thus began the collaboration of YCC, Inc. with the educational community. The first attempt to fuse the philosophy of yoga with formal learning gave YCC, Inc. valuable information on how to reorganize its programs to create improved classroom educational experiences, while establishing smaller projects to grow with.

The two co-founders of Yoga Community Connection, Inc. are Certified Yoga Instructors Jonathan Garber and Rick Comello, YCC, Inc.
