The Volunteer Ombudsman opportunity is not only extremely meaningful, but it fits into you personal schedule! If you want to make a difference and help older people this is for you! Protect the rights of elderly people by making unannounced and focused weekly visits to assisted living facilities. A Volunteer Ombudsman receives all training necessary for this opportunity. Once trained, you will be placed as a Volunteer Ombudsman in a local assisted living facility that you visit on a weekly basis for 2-3 hours. You will be an Advocate for the rights of residents living in the facility. This includes talking and listening to residents' concerns, empowering residents to speak up, voicing concerns for residents who cannot speak for themselves, observing general conditions and daily activities in the facility such as what is and is NOT going on, explaining Ombudsman Program Services, making sure residents are treated with dignity and respects, and ensuring resident's quality of life is maintained. Make a difference in the lives of Elders and much more!
