Girls on the Run Dane County is looking for energetic, committed coaches to work with out 3rd-5th grade girls at various sites throughout the county for our spring 2009 program. Current fall 2008 site information can be found by visiting our website: fall program information. Our spring 2009 programs will run two afternoons per week, for 12 weeks, starting the beginning of March and running through May, culminating with the Komen Race for the Cure 5k. You need not be a runner to coach, you must only love girls and be active enough to lead lessons and the exercise activities of our structured curriculum. Our coaches describe this experience as "life changing"! If you've always longed to make a difference in a young child's life, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Our spring 2009 coaches will attend one 4 hour training session in February 2009 (a Saturday morning TBD) and will be offered CPR/First Aid training, if not certified. Coaches must be available in late afternoon (generally from 4-5:30 approximately). Head coaches must commit to both days per week, while Assistant Coaches may share the duties by attending once per week. Head coaches must be women, due to the nature of our lesson discussions, but men are welcome to volunteer as Assistant Coaches. Complete coach job descriptions are available on our website: Get involved: volunteer.
