 The Aldo Leopold Nature Center is seeking volunteers to remove invasive, non-native plants and maintain trails as part of an effort to restore woodlands and prairies at The Aldo Leopold Nature Center’s campus in Black Earth. “If you enjoy getting your hands dirty and connecting with the land, come out to Black Earth and help us steward 38 mostly wooded acres,” said Joel Stone, Volunteer Coordinator at Black Earth. Work parties will be held on the first Wednesday and/or the second Saturday of every month. Call for this month's dates. Volunteers are welcome to participate for the whole day starting at 9 am and ending at 3 pm or come only for the morning (9 am - Noon) or only the afternoon (Noon -3 pm).
No previous experience is necessary. Tasks will be assigned according to ability. Instruction and equipment will be provided. Bring work gloves and either a snack or lunch. And dress for the weather. This opportunity is sponsored by: Aldo Leopold Nature Center - Black Earth

From the beltline take Hwy. 14 (west) to Black Earth. (Or from Campus – take University Avenue West – it becomes Hwy. 14). Turn left (south) at The Shoe Box in Black Earth (this is 78/Cty F). Follow that about a half-mile through town, and turn right (west) on F/KP (also called Madison Street). Take that about a mile to Cty F. Turn left (south) on Cty F and follow to Sutcliffe Road (it will be the second road on your right.) Turn on to Sutcliffe and follow it (west) up and over the hill. The driveway to ALNC-West is just over the crest of the hill, on the right hand (north) side. The firenumber is 10648 Sutcliffe Road. |
