Volunteer opportunities range from data entry to assistance with field work, and are based on an individual's interest, experience, abilities, and education. Different volunteer opportunities are possible at various times of the year.

What you need to do is send a letter or e-mail to our Administrative Assistant, Kathy O'Brion (kobrion@usgs.gov), stating your interests, abilities, and any other information you would like us to have and attach your resume or CV. This information will be circulated to the various Project Leaders, who may contact the individual or keep the information on file for future use. The Administrative Assistant also keeps the information on file for several years.

Some opportunities may have specific requirements such as being enrolled in a degree program or ability to lift 50 pounds.
