Our mission is to serve others by helping instill values in young people and to prepare them to make moral and ethical choices over their lives.
Description:
The Etowah District Boy Scouts of America needs adult volunteers to help us to deliver the promise of SCOUTING to our young people. You can volunteer as a year round leader or for one event. Services include handicapped scouting, High Adventure programs, leadership training, summer camps, and vocational guidance. Boys' programs are for 1st through 12th graders, and Co-Ed programs are for 9th through 12th graders.
History:
The Greater Alabama Council, Boy Scouts of America has a Tradition of Honor. For almost a century, scouting has taught young people the virtues of honor, respect, character, healthy living and citizenship through the tenets found in the Scout Oath and Law. These affirmations of character have served as a code of conduct for millions of youth, giving tools they need to succeed in life. Scouting alumni include astronauts, military leaders, presidents, ministers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists and athletes. The Greater Alabama Council meets this challenge through quality programs, leaders and facilities. The Youth of Etowah County learn today what will sustain them tomorrow. They acquire the skills they need to make the right choices, meet challenges and overcome them, and understand the importance of responsibility. We as adults hold the promise of their future in our hands.
