Basic Literacy Tutor
Literacy Volunteers of Southeastern Fairfield County (LVSFC) teaches native born American to read and write English. Many in Fairfield County can only sign their names, and that is the extent of their reading and writing capabilities. Our aim is to help people increase their job skills and gain opportunities to get a better paying position. It is simple to become a Basic Literacy Tutor. PEOPLE INTERESTED SHOULD ATTEND A VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION SESSION TO LEARN WHAT IS REQUIRED OF A TUTOR. The next Orientations are Tuesday, September 23, Morning, Norwalk Library, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM OR Night, St. Joseph's Manor, Trumbull, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. The next Basic Literacy Tutor Training starts Tuesday nights, Oct. 7, and continues Oct. 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4, Dec. 2, and Jan. 6, from 6:00PM - 9:00 PM. Attendance is required at all classes to be certified. Tutors need to be high school graduates. Please call 1-800-345-7323 to register or for more information.
