To offer a country farm experience to enrich the hearts, minds and spirits of children. Our youth group and public programs have provided hundreds of children with environmental education and positive youth development activities aimed at fostering a sense of stewardship and personal connection to the natural world and to one another.
Description:
We are a Kings Grant farm in York Maine on 50 acres of fields and forests surrounded by 200 acres of conservation land. We offer environmental based education programs, experiential learning through gardening, nature hikes, team and confidence building exercises, etc. The Youth Enrichment Center is a 501(c)3 corporation. Our service-learning programs at the farm have been particularly successful at engaging teens in the "6 C's" of positive youth development: competence; confidence; connections; character;compassion; and contribution to community.
History:
The Hilton Farm was purchased by Nancy Breen in 2002. She has extensively renovated the property and through the help of many volunteers and countless hours of hard work, the farm has evolved into a destination for many groups of school children and youth groups. In 2007 we provided the country farm experience to over 1500 children. The Youth Enrichemnt Center has an eight member board of directors and became a 501(c)3 non profit corporation in December 2003.
