To enhance the water quality of the Penobscot River and its tributaries as well as educate the general public about water quality and to establish ownership for a resource that continues to define our community.
Description:
The Bangor Area Storm Water Group works with the local municipalities to safeguard Maine's water from storm water pollution. Volunteers work with the BASWG in community projects such as storm drain stenciling and stream clean-ups that help raise local awareness of water quality issues.
History:
The group formed in 2003 in response to the need to collaborate on meeting the requirements of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection Storm Water Permit Program.
