Description:
Hospice of Hancock County is an all-volunteer hospice care provider founded in 1980. A staff of four and over 100 dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers serves residents of Hancock County, to its farthest reaches. As an independent, non-profit organization all services are provided free of charge. Receiving no federal or state funding, Hospice of Hancock County is supported by donations from individuals, organizations, towns, foundation grants, and two annual fund raising events: silent auction and Hospice Regatta of Maine. Hospice of Hancock County is a resource to all, offering a speakers bureau and a lending library. They are Maine State licensed, a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, Hospice Foundation of America, Maine Hospice Council and a designated agency of the United Way of Eastern Maine.

History:
Hospice of Hancock County was founded in 1980 by a grassroots effort of community caregivers. The house in which their office is now located was bought in the year 2000.
