It is the mission of the York Senior Center to serve the needs of the community and it's Senior Citizens. The ways we accomplish this is to provide a safe, stimulating and homelike environment.We want to offer engaging programs that address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our members. We hope to promote community awareness and involvement, provide information and treat each person with dignity and respect. We want to encourage independence and support the caregiviers. We offer home cooked hot meals for lunch providing nutrition and socialization. (These meals are also available to be delivered.)

Description:
We provide daily programming to reach a diverse aging population. Our membership is over 600 members, 50+ years old. Right now the membership fee is $10.00 per year. Hot lunches are $3.00 per member.
We network with other agencies in York County as the Senior Center is also the General Assistance headquarters for the Town of York, serving the needy.
Our center is also the Emergency Red Cross Shelter for York County.

History:
This year 2006, marks the 25th Year Anniversary of the York Senior Center. Started at York Hospital by Sheila Chaney. The center moved to it's present location behind the Police Station in York, sometime in the early 80's. It is the present location today, with many renovations.
