We need volunteers for the Maritime Kids' Culture Expo, a culminating event for our AHOY! (art.history.oceans.youth) after-school program.
The program services 5th graders from two New Bedford South End schools. They are learning about the maritime community through
a varied curriculum, dedicated teachers and guest educators. The EXPO
will be held on Thursday, June 12th, 2008 in conjunction with AHA! (site to be determined) and we will need people to help organize beforehand. We need volunteers of all kinds to work with display, presentation, refreshments, and with the creation of our GEOMORPH. This is a "land painting" using living bodies to create a shape on land. We have a GREEN theme, recreating a flower whose petals represent the varied communities comprising our area. We need a BUCKET TRUCK/CRANE from which to do AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY of the geomorph.
We also need people to document the event.
Other tasks involve: staffing booths, setting up our displays and canopy tents, promoting the event, drumming up interest.

we have volunteers of all ages and expertise-we educate via the opportunity as well. We require interest and energy to the purpose of advancing our educational and environmental awareness.
