In December, I met a lovely 94 year old woman, who still lives on her own in a beautiful home in Falmouth. Barbara is a petite lady, who relishes her independence and even insisted on shoveling a path to the side door before I came for my outreach visit. She lives only a few blocks from the open ocean waters, so the snow was at a minimal but still quite a task for a woman of her stature. Being a retired school teacher and so versed in life, we had a delightful conversation for most of the morning. My new friend is visually and hearing impaired, and I left her with a new receiver with the station set to our free radio reading service and at her convenience, with the help of a portable hearing device she is still able to keep up with the times of life. So many people, like Barbara, miss reading the local newspaper. Would you like to help those hear what they can't read for themselves?

There is some training required. You must be able to read the newspapers over a broadcast system for our listening audience. We offer complete training on all the equipment until you feel comfortable. There are a variety of publications to choose from and available times.
