Tri-County Literacy Volunteers mission is to promote increased literacy for adult learners through the effective use of volunteers, the provision of support services for volunteers and learners, and collaboration with individuals, groups, or organizations desiring to foster increased literacy.

Description:
Our organization - Tri-County Literacy Volunteers is an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of Maine. The state organization coordinates a statewide referral service so that if an individual calls our affiliate, but lives outside our area, we are able to connect that person to tutoring through the affiliate in the individuals community. We are also an affiliate of and fully accredited by Pro-Literacy Worldwide.

We have a dedicated Board of Directors comprised of 12 members reflecting the communities served. The Chair and other board members contribute hundreds of hours to the governance and administration of Tri-County Literacy Volunteers' programs.

History:
How long - Literacy Volunteers of Bath, which later became Greater Bath and Lincoln County LV, has been providing services since 1970. The Casco Bay Literacy Volunteers covering the Brunswick and Freeport areas started in 1981. In June 2003 these two affiliates merged to become Tri-County Literacy Volunteers now serving the coastal Maine area from Freeport to Waldoboro.
