Our mission is to enrich the lives of seniors. SeniorsPlus believes in maintaining the independence, dignity and quality of life of older adults. SeniorsPlus will work consistently to remove barriers and strive to provide services in a reliable and coordinated manner.

Description:
SeniorsPlus is your resource for information and services related to independence and aging. It is a private, non-profit organization supported by funds from the Department of Human Service, the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services, area United Way agencies, local municipalities, and donations.

The agency's varied programs include volunteer opportunities both behind the scenes and in direct contact with seniors. Meals on Wheels is perhaps our best known program. Volunteers also assist with the Medicare education program, grocery shopping and transportation services, and many other helpful roles. New roles for potential volunteers are being developed as we expand out services.

History:
SeniorsPlus has been the Area Agency on Aging for the tri-county area since 1972. The agency's name was changed from Western Area Agency on Aging to SeniorsPlus in December 1998. In 1995 SeniorsPlus was awarded the state contract from the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services to coordinate in-home services for state-funded long-term care programs. SeniorsPlus formed the Elder Independence of Maine (EIM) division to manage this contract.
