Improve a child's smile! AmeriCorps & AmeriCorps* VISTA

Join our dental team in promoting the benefits of preventive oral health services for children in Hancock County. Maine Coast Community Dental Clinic, a program of Downeast Health Services, is seeking a qualified individual for an AmeriCorps VISTA National Service position beginning July 19, 2008.

Job components will include, among others: Implement a Portable School-based Oral Health Program; Provide outreach education and assist in improving access to services; Strengthen collaborative efforts with pediatric, emergency department, DHHS, school, and child care staff to ensure availability of access to dental services for children;and
increase community awareness about the availability of dental services and needs.

Qualified applicants will have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Also must have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant college or prior work experience required. Through AmeriCorps, the VISTA worker will receive a living allowance, health coverage, an educational award or monetary stipend upon completion of a year of service, and opportunities for on-going training.
