Ongoing volunteer recruitment, training, and monitoring are a vital aspect of AWAP's work. Volunteers are used in every service area and are needed in record numbers, both in the provision of services, and office/support work. In addition, a greater emphasis has been placed on utilizing school year college interns during the last few years with some great success. These students come for the academic year and give between 15-20 hours of service each week. Many bring experience with them and commitment and understanding that is refreshing. Year-round community volunteers are actively sought, especially for helpline telephone work. We are able to work with all schedules and do not have a time requirement. We simply take whatever you can offer...hobbies, talents, or passions! We need help in all areas of our agency! AWAP offers full training sessions. On-the-job training is utilized by all our volunteers, interns, and new employees. Volunteers must complete a scheduled training before starting a position. (We offer day and evening classes.) An application, that includes signing a Confidentiality Statement must be completed, as well as a Background Check. This opportunity is sponsored by: Abused Women's Advocacy Project (AWAP)
