As a dynamic leading agency, we are dedicated to the eradication of heterosexism, homophobia and transphobia. We work toward the empowerment of all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, as well as their friends and families, by providing educational, social, supportive and cultural programs, as well as advocacy services and resources to the community.

History:
The Gay Alliance was founded in 1972, when a group of Rochester residents and University of Rochester students created a gay and lesbian advocacy and support group. The Gay Alliance publication, The Empty Closet, is the oldest continuously published gay newspaper in New York State.
