Mission- Our Mission is to share Christ's love and provide biblically based services that meet the spiritual and practical needs of the poor.
Vision - Our Vision is to help every person we serve move toward independence and spiritual fulfillment through Jesus Christ
Description:
The Rescue Mission serves to the poor and the hurting in Central New York through providing basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. We work to transform lives,be it through a bed at our shelter, receiving a meal, studying for a diploma, obtaining job skills, receiving clothing for their families, restoring a relationship with God, learning life skills or finding an apartment. Through our outreach van we work to bring those who live on the streets to our shelter where it is safe warm and dry.The HIS Van also provides transportation for other shelters in the community to medical legal or job appointments. The Mission has two residential programs that serve men with transitional housing and men who find daily living a challenge due to mental, physical or developmental disabilities
History:
The Rescue Mission began in 1887 during the time of the Erie Canal. Christians originally founded this ministry to wayward folks who living along the canal. While we have grown to serve the needy of Central New York, our foundations remains the same.We have seen alot of faces of needy people with no food, no bed and no hope,We reach out to them in God's love.
The Rescue Mission is committed to helping anyone who comes here, regardless of their issues or beliefs.
