Safe Journey is a healing ministry that offers a customized transition program to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence. We are dedicated to helping women who are committed to establishing lives free from violence by providing support that will enable them to live in safety, grow in confidence and experience the power of God's unconditional love.

Description:
We provide a variety of services including but not limited to: individual counseling, support groups for women and their children, self-defense classes, special topic workshops, safety planning, housing and legal advocacy, career counseling, household assistance, and family activities for women and children. A speaker's bureau is also available to faith communities and other organizations.

History:
Safe Journey is under the auspices of Ecumenical Ministries of Perinton, Inc., a nonprofit corporation comprised of thirteen churches. Safe Journey opened its doors in the fall of 1998. We have helped over 650 women to date with community referrals, individual services tailored to their needs, support groups, self defense classes, and workshops. Over twenty-five percent of those we help are from the eastern side of Monroe County. The program itself is not religious and is open to all who seek assistance. While we do not proselytize, a female chaplain is available for short-term pastoral counseling on request.
