Our vision is to be responsive and pro-active while respecting the dignity of each person involved with Cameron. We strive to follow Jesus' example of ministering to those who are most vulnerable in society by providing direct services to meet basic needs. Offered in an attitude of compassion and encouragement, CCM hopes to foster increased self-esteem and facilitate positive life changes for all of our program participants.

Description:
Cameron Community Ministry is an urban out-reach ministry based in northwest Rochester, in the Lyell- Otis neighborhood. While Cameron is supported by a wide variety of religious and secular organizations, we are always in need of volunteers. Our programs include a hot lunch program, kids cafe, after school programs, a clothing house and Sunday Celebration.

Cameron Community Ministries, Inc. is an ecumenical urban community center located in the Rochester, New York, Lyell-Otis Neighborhood, which is an area of high poverty. Cameron provides programs for neighborhood residents through volunteers and staff that give (i) school-age children and their families educational and recreational experiences to build life-skills and positive values in a structured, safe and nurturing environment, (ii) meals to the hungry, and (iii) clothing to those in need. Cameron’s service to the neighborhood demonstrates respect for the dignity of all persons. We are faith based, but do not proselytize. All are served.

History:
CCM was started in 1984 by the American Baptist Churches and the Presbytery. We are supported by many faith communities, caring individuals, and businesses. We began with hospitality to seniors and continue in that tradition with free daily meals and a welcome to all who come. We also work closely with School #30 to help the children and their families.

From 490 West, take the Ames/Childsexit. Turn right onto Childscontinuing until Childs ends at Lyell. Turn left onto Lyell, then a fast right onto Cameron Street. We are located at 48 Cameron Street, on the right side of the street within the first block from Lyell.   Nearest Bus Stop: Bus #3, 2 minute walk
