The Maplewood Neighborhood Association represents the Maplewood neighborhood in dealings with City Hall, Monroe County, and State of New York. Our goal is to plan for our diverse and vibrant community, encourage home ownership, preserve the residential character of the neighborhood, and represent the community's interest in decisions that affect our neighborhood.

Description:
Our office is conveniently located in the NET office building (Neighborhood Empowerment Team) at 1495 Lake Avenue. The MNA holds a monthly meeting at Aquinas Institute which provides a public forum for discussion on issues of interest to the neighborhood. Officers give monthly reports regarding zoning, legislature, public safety, and community development. A telephone call-out system reminds members of meetings, community events, and public safety issues. The MNA also sponsors the annual Maplewood Rose Festival and the Home and Garden Tour.

History:
The MNA was formed in 1972. In 1998, the Maplewood Historic District was listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, and received a 1998 New York State Historic Preservation Award. In 2004, the MNA became an IRS recognized nonprofit organization. A few of our recent efforts have involved active participation in the design phase of the Lake Avenue and Ridge Road Construction, construction and upkeep of the Maplewood Playground, and collaboration with Sector 2 to obtain grants for enhanced crime prevention, including surveillance cameras on Dewey Avenue.
