ED Family Liaison: liaison between families and staff in waiting and treatment areas
![]() The Emergency Department (ED) is the front door to Rochester General Hospital. The volunteer will assist in the waiting and treatment areas of the department by acting as a liaison between families and staff. Due to heavy patient volume the importance of communication between the two areas is critical in aiding the department’s professional staff in fulfilling our health system's mission – to improve the health of the people and communities served by providing high quality care and exceptional service with compassion. Volunteers complete a general orientation before beginning their service specific training and re-orientation on an annual basis offered by the user department. Service specific training is scheduled with user department designated person for 2-4 weeks (8-16 hours) or until the volunteer feels comfortable with the duties required for the position and meets the user department’s training standards. Shifts for this volunteer position: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2-6 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. every day of the week. Other hours are available upon request.
