We provide new, handmade blankets to children in crisis. In 2007, we donated 1,958 blankets to NH children in hospitals, homeless shelters, foster care, etc. We work closely with local schools if children need to deal with the loss of a classmate. We also speak at local schools, civic organizations, church groups, etc., in order to promote our mission.

Description:
Our mission is pure and simple: to provide love, security and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. We do this by giving them new, handmade blankets lovingly created by volunteers. These "Blanketeers" are a large part of our mission, and their dedication provides them with a rewarding service opportunity that benefits the children in our community. Our group of volunteers consist of schools, girl scouts, churches, rest homes, and many other individuals. Our volunteers are quite talented, but some are on fixed incomes. When we receive donations, we are able to provide these volunteers with yarn, fabric, batting, thread, etc. This enables them to craft dozens of beautiful blankets.

History:
The National Office of Project Linus was established in 1995. Every child needs a security blanket -- especially kids who are seriously ill or who have undergone some kind of trauma, such as the loss of a parent or sibling. Project Linus makes sure that these children have something to snuggle up with. Volunteers create homemade, washable blankets of all sizes and styles and distribute them to kids in need of a big hug. We welcome quilts, comforters, fleece throws, afghans, or receiving blankets, in child-friendly colors
