RCFY's mission is to get the community involved in providing services and activities that are enjoyable and educational for youth by encouraging youth participation in an open, honest environment.

Description:
RCFY provides a vehicle for professionals, parents and youth to work as partners on behalf of youth and family needs in the community of Raymond. Public (police, recreation, schools, UNH) and private (mental health, education and social service agencies, local businesses, and other groups, including youth and parents meet monthly and work on a variety of efforts to enhance and expand positive youth development and family strengthening activities in Raymond.

Currently we are sponsoring monthly parenting series where we have a guest speaker come in and speak about topics that directly relate to parenting children and teens today. These are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the community building of the Raymond Baptist church at 145 RT 27 in Raymond. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for a fun, informational evening. Free babysitting is available.

Our new afterschool program for grades 5 - 8 will begin in November and will run adjacent to the current school calendar. We hope to have volunteers come in and offer a variety of activities for the youth, be it a one time event, weekly, or monthly. This will be enrichment for the program and children and give them a variety of learning experiences. Anyone who would to contribute is encouraged to do so.

We have youth groups that are running in both the middle school and high school. Our Youth Action at the high school is very energetic and involved in many activities. They run community service projects as well as being advocates for a safe drug and alcohol free way of life. They have a great voice for our community and many are recognizing all of the work they do.

RCFY plans to go to the voters this spring, 2008, with a warrant article to ban smoking on recreation fields in our town. This is one step in showing the public that not all teens are participating in unhealthy behaviors, nor do they approve of it.

History:
Raymond completed the Teenage Assessment Project with UNH Cooperative Extension in 2002, involving assessment of youth risk and protective factors and related community education events. Following this project, the community decided to continue to organize and address areas of concern. This resulted in the formation of RCFY, Inc. in 2004 as a tax exempt, 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit organization that is managed by a volunteer board of directors promoting youth and adult partnership.
In the spring of 2007 we encouraged the school district to participate in the YRBS survey. This will provide us with updated information to know what areas need to be targeted next.
