To bring together local women in an atmosphere of generosity and community in order to provide anonymous, short-term financial assistance, which may not be available elsewhere, to eligible individuals and families when a small amount of money will make a significant difference. Description:
Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth was founded in 2005 by a group of women who realized that while there are many great organizations available for people in need, there are also many small expenses which are needed quickly and may not be covered by those organizations. We can make a difference in someone's life by providing amounts for small expenses-- $75 for car registration so that transportation stays available, or $100 to offset travel expenses for someone helping a family member in crisis. Small expenses, large impact. We want to help.
Our fund raising is informal, a gathering of our friends and neighbors to create a fund from which gifts can be made. Referrals are taken from validated community members, and funds are paid to the entity which requires payment. We look forward to many years of helping our neighbors in need and to your support in our cause. Together we can all make a difference, one small check at a time.
