GBECS is a project based, technology rich public charter high school. As of the Spring of 2006, we have eighty 9th and 10th grade students. Each year we will add a class of 9th graders. It is anticipated that the school will never exceed 250 students and by fall of 2007 will have 9th-12th grade students.
Description:
GBECS follows the NH State Board of Education curriculum however the way the curriculum is delivered is very different from a traditional high School. Students are evaluated through their projects, minimal tests are used.
Students are also encouraged and supported to explore their career interests through job shadowing, volunteer work, and internships. Professionals from the community are frequently invited to come share their careers and professions with students.
GBECS does administer standardized tests for the purpose of evaluation and tracking of students' progress.
History:
GBECS started in January of 2005 with forty 9th grade students. We are the only public charter school in the state which means that we are part of the Exeter Region Cooperative School District, sharing resources and support with the School District. GBECS operates with a board of trustees with oversite from the SAU 16 Central office.
