The Richie McFarland Children's Center provides developmental and support services for children with special needs, assistance to their families, and assistance in the use of community and health resources. Our goal is to help young children reach their full developmental potential and to support their families through that process.
Description:
We provide speech, physical, occupational and educational therapy as well as socialization opportunities, peer and family support, and referrals to housing, food, clothing and financial assistance. Services may include individual or small group developmental therapy sessions at the family home or in the community.
History:
RMCC was founded in 1971 by a group of parents with children with developmental delays. It was renamed in 1974 to honor the memory of Richie McFarland, one of the original students.
