The Prescott Park Arts Festival is a non-profit arts venue that provides outdoor theater, music and dance in the beautiful 3.5 acre park on the Piscataqua River.
Description:
The Prescott Park Arts Festival is New England's premiere outdoor arts venue. Presenting more than 100 events annually, including the Seacoast Jazz Festival, Folk Festival, Saturday Children's Series and the Chowder and Chili Festivals, PPAF and NH Art Association Art Show and Sale, the arts festival provides many Seacoast residents with their first exposure to a live performance as no one is denied access for their inability to pay. Each year more than 180,000 people attend arts festival events, often traveling more than 30 miles. Seating is first- come, first-served and attendees are able to spread out a blanket after 4pm on performance days. Most families will picnic before the show. A full concession stand is available to compliment your picnic. Prescott Park is also the home to several award winning gardens, a series of fountains and a nearby playground for kids.
History:
In the festival's 33 year history, more than 3 million people have witnessed the magic of the arts festival. Originally funded by a city trust, the organization was incorporated in 1987 to provide stable administrative support to the performances. The arts festival, along with the park itself, was voted as a cornerstone of New Hampshire in the early 1990s. The arts festival has also the recipient of Yankee Magazines Travel Editor's Pick for the last six years!
