The mission of the Oyster River Watershed Association is to protect, promote, and enhance the ecological integrity and environmental quality of the Oyster River watershed, through land protection and education.
Description:
The Oyster River watershed lies predominantly in Barrington, Lee, Madbury, Nottingham, and Durham. The public is invited to monthly meetings, and also to participate in river walks and water quality monitoring.
History:
The Oyster River Watershed Association was formed in 1999 by local citizens concerned about the health and preservation of natural resources in this relatively pristine watershed. The ORWA is staffed entirely by volunteers, whose interests include land protection, water quality, wildlife habitat, recreation, education, and history.
