Mission Statement: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Description:
The Portsmouth Salvation Army seeks to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those who come in contact with our organization. In regards to physical needs, we offer an emergency food pantry and a soup kitchen which serves both breakfast and supper. In addition, comprehensive emergency services are offered, such as clothing, prescriptions, rental assistance, and counseling referrals. Seasonal assistance is also given to those less fortunate, in the form of Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and Christmas toys for children.
In regards to spiritual needs, weekly worship services, bible studies, a woman's group and a variety of child and youth programs, are offered.
Office Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 4:00pm
Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm. Closed Sat & Sunday

History:
The Salvation Army commenced its work in Portsmouth, NH,in 1885. Since that time the Portsmouth Salvation Army has sought to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of individuals.

Directions:

 From Portsmouth Traffic Circle. Take Route One Bypass North to Maplewood Ave exit. Take a Right onto Maplewood Ave. Go through 3 sets of Lights. After the 3rd Light we are approx. 75 feet on the left. Landmarks: across the street from the former Portsmouth Public Library, and directly after Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe. Next door to the John Paul Jones Museum House. Park at the Municipal Parking lot on the corner across the street from the Health Food Store.
