Mission Statement: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name, without discrimination.
Description:
The Portsmouth Salvation Army seeks to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those who come in contact with our organization. In regards to physical needs, we offer an emergency food pantry and a soup kitchen which serves both breakfast and supper. In addition, comprehensive emergency services are offered, such as clothing, prescriptions, rental assistance, and counseling referrals. Seasonal assistance is also given to those less fortunate, in the form of Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and Christmas toys for children. In regards to spiritual needs, weekly worship services, bible studies, a woman's group and a variety of child and youth programs, are offered. Office Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 4:00pm Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm. Closed Sat & Sunday
History:
The Salvation Army commenced its work in Portsmouth, NH,in 1885. Since that time the Portsmouth Salvation Army has sought to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of individuals.
