New Hampshire Legal Assistance is a statewide legal services organization dedicated to providing our clients with access to justice. We strive to provide high quality legal services to low income and elderly people of New Hampshire.
Description:
New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA)is a private, non-profit organization providing legal services to low income and elderly individuals based upon type of case and staff availability. NHLA concentrates its resources on legal problems involving basic needs -- food, shelter, medical care and income.
History:
NHLA was established in 1971 to help balance the scales of justice for New Hampshire's poor. NHLA has assisted more than 200,000 individuals with their civil legal problems. NHLA has changed laws and institutions, taken cases no one else would, and given people hope and opportunity they did not have before.

At Portsmouth Traffic Circle exit at "US Route 1 Bypass North (Maine)" exit. Go about a mile. Take first exit (Maplewood
Avenue/Portsmouth/Newington). Take a right at stop sign at the end of exit. This will be Maplewood Avenue. Go straight through the first traffic light. At the second traffic light take a left onto Hanover Street (Bananas Restaurant will be on your right). Take you first left onto High Street (across from Hanover Parking Garage). Legal Assistance is the second house on the left (blue with white trim).
