Somersworth Early Learning Center
Powered by Truist

Last updated on September 16, 2008

Our mission is to provide affordable, quality care for children six weeks through fifteen years of age. Provide developmentally appropriate learning materials for children to explore.

Description:
Our center is open to all children and families, regardless of race, nationality, religion, or creed.
We seek to provide a safe nurturing environment where children can learn through play and daily interactions with their peers and teachers. Healthy meals are served to give each child two well balanced meals in order for them to learn and grow. Rest times are offered to let children rest and recharge for the afternoon activities.
We have newly landscaped playgrounds including sand box areas tunnels and swings. We provide field trips throughout the summer as well as apple/pumpkin picking trips during the fall and volunteers are always welcome.
We provide transportation to the Somersworth elementary and Middle school throughout the school year including early release and snow days.
We participate in a yearly vision & hearing screening for 3-6 year olds which is offered through the State.

History:
The Somersworth Early Learning Center has been in existance since 1973. It began as a preschool in the Somersworth Housing Authority building. In January 1992 a brand new center was opened next to the Housing Authority site which offers Infant/Toddler care, preschool, kindergarten, a before and after school program as well as a full time summer camp program.
The center is open from 6:30-5:30 Monday -Friday. We are closed for major holidays and the week of Christmas. We also close two Fridays each year for Staff In-Service days. These are days that cleaning and painting are done as well as staff workshops and trainings.
