The Southern District YMCA/Camp Lincoln, Inc. is a community based organization that strives to put Christian principles into practice, through programs that build healthy mind, spirit, and body for all throughout the Seacoast Area of New Hampshire.
Description:
The Southern District YMCA/Camp Lincoln, Inc. has four primary areas for serving the community, consisting of summer camps, outdoor education, enrichment, and a "school's out" program.
Summer camp meets the needs of over 1400 campers a summer and 120 staff, in a variety of camping programs.
Traditional day camp serves children, ages 5 and up, in camp activities such as kayaking, swimming, archery, pottery, high ropes, sports, music/drama, and nature.
Adventure camp sends children all over the United States and Canada, on exciting trips where campers enjoy backpacking, camping, rock climbing, mountain biking, touring, and white water rafting.
Specialty camp allows campers opportunity to concentrate on a specific skill area such as swimming, horseback riding, arts, drama, sports, hiking, or woodworking.
Travel camp is a program where campers visit exciting local destinations such as Canobie Lake Park, Water Country, the Boston Aquarium...just to name a few.
Camp Lincoln also has large teen programs for campers,
ages 13 and up, that include our "On The Road" teen travel program, our "Junior and Senior Counselor in Training" programs, as well as our summer counselor program.
The Outdoor Education program runs year round on the camp property, to serve the team-building, science, and recreational needs of local school groups. Experienced instructors teach school students about habitat diversity, lake ecosystems, and environmental issues. Groups can stay from a day to a week and enjoy exciting evening programs, such as campfires and stargazing. Schools can also enjoy a day climbing on our extensive ropes course.
Our enrichment program strives to meet local school needs by providing instruction, on site, in such areas as music, drama, karate, arts, woodworking, and scientist clubs...just to name a few!
Our "school's out" program provides valuable before and after, school day-care, in twelve local schools. The program strives to be more than just daycare, however. Study groups, art projects, field trips, and special activities all take place under the supervision of our professional staff.
History:
Founded in 1926, the Southern District YMCA has been a positive force within the community, for well over 75 years. Originally a summer camp for fifty boys, Camp Lincoln now serves over forty thousand children and parents, annually.
