The Seymour Osman Community Center and Youth Safe Haven is a private non-profit organization affiliated with the Dover Housing Authority. The SOCC provides academic support, family and youth life skills training and recreational opportunities.
Description:
Children are most likely to be involved in crime or high-risk behaviors during the afterschool hours from 3 to 6 p.m., when adult supervision is often minimal. The Seymour Osman Community Center provides a safe place for children of low-income families to go during the critical afterschool hours.
A variety of enrichment programs are offered for youth at the SOCC, ranging from Homework Lab to Cooking Class. As well, sports, art, and literacy programs are designed to meet the needs and interests of participating youth.
The Seymour Osman Community Center provides all programs at minimal cost to families. Parent fees supplement the contributions of grantmakers, donors, and volunteers, which allow the SOCC to maintain high-quality programming.
